Buying a Purse Online

Helpful Advice for when you decide to buy your purse online.

Purchasing any item online can be a challenge. "Items in mirror are larger than they appear" Lol. And so it goes with purchases you cannot see in person. Often it is difficult to visualize from measurements provided. I always suggest to buyers they use the measurements of their favorite bag for comparison. This will help insure you can accommodate your favorite wallet and those awesome sunglasses you enjoy wearing.

Learn your preferences. Do you like a tall open bag with lots of extra room at the top or a shorter bag so you can see your items without digging? Is a flap bag for you or do you seem to prefer a zippered top bag? Get to know your personal tastes before you order. Another thing to consider is how do you carry your bag? Some like to carry their bag on their shoulder, keeping their hands free for shopping or juggling the kids. While others prefer to carry their bag on their arm in front of them. A smaller cross body bag may be just the ticket for running through the airport or helping chaperone a class trip. And yet, a weekend getaway may require a larger bag for more personal items. Whatever your "bag" most of us require a couple of options depending on the day's events.

You may find descriptions stating a bag is a "North South" bag. This refers to taller bags. While an

"East West" Bag will be a shorter wider bag.

My personal preferences are "East West" as I like my things "filed" and easy to reach. I also prefer a zip top bag, as the flap gets in my way. Having been a diehard shoulder carrier all my life, I am finding as I get older I may carry my bag on my arm saving stress on my back. So having a bag with handles and straps is a good choice. I also like my things compartmentalized. (What does THAT say about me?) Back to my point, I like dividers and pockets. Which means a bag organizer is a MUST for me. Plus, it makes a quick change easy. And protects the lining of my bag from any stains.

What is the bag made of? Do you prefer leather? Or a wipe clean , "I don't care if it's raining" vinyl? Maybe you like a cloth bag that can be tossed in the washer. There are many fabrics and textiles to choose from. And some great nylon bags from makers like Kipling and Baggallini are very sturdy and yet lightweight.

Even if you shop on line, try to visit some brick & mortar stores and touch and feel the bags. Know the finish of the bag you are buying. This will help avoid surprises later. And last but not least, ask questions. Most sellers are more than happy to answer questions about their products. Because let's face it, NO ONE likes returns, not the buyer or the seller.

Thank you for reading! I hope this helps you when you are searching for a bag. Be sure to share these preferences with anyone who might buy you a bag for a gift! Make their life easier and make sure your gift "fits" you perfectly.
